But the rotation gizmo doesn't seem to take the mouse movement relative to the viewport rotation into account that well. It behaves quite strange and unintuitively. Even though nothing was selected, after an attempted cut with the bisect tool, some vertex that were near the cut were selected, making it look as if the tool was trying to work.
