WebThe Pinebelt Blueway is a 52.3-mile series of paddling trails on the Leaf and Bouie rivers. Currently, no commercial outfitters are servicing this blueway, but fingers crossed, they’re coming. The Leaf River is a series of one snow-white sandbar after another, and the Bouie River has a little bit of everything good about paddling in Mississippi. WebLocated in Mississippi’s Pine Belt region, Hattiesburg might be most well known to outsiders as the home of The University of Southern Mississippi. Founded in 1882, the city became a center for the lumber and railroad industries, earning it the nickname “The Hub City.” Hattiesburg remains a hub today—but for a different reason.
